Logo with history, so we have decided to name this renewed Gente Magazine logo, as it is representing a magazine with a 60-year history informing and entertaining.
But, why is this change?
We decided that it was time for a renovation, a fresh image, appropriate to these times where technology predominates in all areas of information and entertainment, but without losing its essence. We started to review the history of the corporate image of the brand, to see if something suited our current requirements, they were all good, but they did not fit well with the concept we wanted to give them, until we found it, it was the first logo of the brand. People Magazine printed.
From here on, the process was technical, we already had the conceptual essence, now we had to adjust it to the current design, grid, composition and pantone parameters.
With an extremely minimalist design and color, we have managed to make Gente different from the competition, it has a fresh and youthful concept but at the same time firm for its simplicity.
Basically, we try to rescue the trajectory of the 60 years traveled by the magazine, return to the origins and give it a touch of modernity. It was time to return to the simple but aesthetic lines of the beginning, clean, simplify and minimize them. Evoke our beginnings, highlight our history. Take advantage of a great re-launch of a new digital platform and a new stage for this medium that has seen governments, dictatorships, wars and celebrities pass through its pages, reporting generations of events from month to month, week to week.
We select a color that has always been characteristic of the brand.
We rescued the first logo, created by hand, drawn in 1958. We digitized it and started working with it.
We play with the lines, we clean them, we choose to apply it to a horizontal plane, we spaced it and tried different uses.
We decided not to use the stars used for several decades. Also leave the slogan because today we address a wider audience. Therefore, it was also decided to apply the “INTERNACIONAL” direct to the logo to specify and reinforce the new approach to an audience that is not local but global.

So, how do you create the perfect logo?
Paul Rand, the famous logo designer who designed logo for top brands like IBM, ABC, Morningstar etc. once said:

Minimalistic design refers to a design where the work is reduced to its necessary elements by maximizing simplicity and capitalizing on space. Adopting a minimalistic design makes your brand stand apart from your competitors who might have clunky and gaudy designs in their logo.
Here is an old logo for Ford Motors in the early 1990’s. At that time, logo design was nothing but the brand name in fancy fonts.
But, as time passed, Ford adopted a minimalistic style and revamped its logo. Here is Ford’s new logo which was designed in 2003.

Stick to a geometric shape since these are the most recognizable. You can start your logo with a circle, square or a rectangle and then add more elements to it.
Try and design your logo with a pencil in one go without stopping. If you can do it, the design will be 100% minimal.
Keep the design simple and make sure your logo gets identified at a glance.
Embrace efficiency and don’t be afraid to break the rules.
Explore the depth of symbolism with your design. You can opt for an object and the things associated with the subject.
I recommend using a minimum of 1-3 fonts to keep your design to minimum.
